OJK Forms BMKS Task Force to Strengthen Regulation of Commodity Exchanges

JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has begun preparing a regulatory and supervisory framework for the Strategic Mineral and Commodity Exchange (BMKS).

This step was realized through the formation of the Task Force (Satgas) for the Preparation of Regulation and Supervision of BMKS in the OJK environment.

Chairman of the OJK Commissioner Board, Friderica Widyasari Dewi, said the formation of the BMKS Task Force was a follow-up to the mandate of Law Number 4 of 2026 concerning Amendments to Law Number 4 of 2023 concerning the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector.

"We have formed a Task Force for the Preparation of Regulation and Supervision of the Strategic Mineral and Community Exchange or we abbreviated it with the BMKS Task Force in the OJK environment," he explained in a press conference, Tuesday, August 4.

According to Friderica, the task force was formed to prepare a regulatory and supervisory framework for the BMKS sector, including preparing the necessary supporting infrastructure.

In addition, he said that OJK also strengthened coordination with the Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) through the signing of a memorandum of understanding.

Friderica or who is familiarly called Kiki said that the cooperation includes harmonization of policies, exchange and utilization of data and information, to increase the capacity and competence of human resources.

In an effort to strengthen governance and risk management, Kiki said OJK also collaborated with 23 professional institution associations in the field of governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) by holding the Risk and Governance Summit 2026 in July 2026.

"Then as part of the series of activities, an Innovation Paper Competition with the theme Building Digital Trust and Ethical Governance for Indonesia's Future has also been held, which was attended by participants from 135 universities in Indonesia," he said.
