JAKARTA - PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI has expanded access to digital financial services for Indonesian students who will study in Hong Kong. The support includes account opening, activation of wondr by BNI, multicurrency services, and a special debit card as a result of collaboration with the Indonesian Student Association in Hong Kong.

This service has been prepared since students are still in Indonesia so that the needs of transactions and financial management during their studies abroad can be prepared early.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said that moving to another country to pursue education requires not only academic readiness, but also adequate financial planning.

"We want Indonesian students to be able to start their study journey more calmly because their financial needs have been prepared since they are in their home country. BNI presents an ecosystem of services that makes it easier for them to open accounts, access digital banking services, and transact abroad in a more practical and secure way," said Okki in a written statement.

The facilitation of these services was carried out in conjunction with the 2026 Pre-Departure Gathering activity. In this activity, BNI helped participants open accounts, activate wondr by BNI, and follow the registration process as a user of wondr multicurrency.

Students also receive education on the use of digital services for daily transactions and financial management while in Hong Kong.

This support is strengthened through the existence of BNI Hong Kong which will distribute the PPI-HK Co-Branding Multi-Currency Debit Card to Indonesian students. The card is integrated with BNI's digital services to support international transactions and access to banking needs.

"Collaboration with PPI-HK is part of BNI's commitment to continue strengthening services for Indonesian diaspora in various countries," said Okki.

The strengthening of digital services and international networks is also in line with the direction of transformation of SOEs under the coordination of Danantara Indonesia. BNI is trying to provide relevant banking solutions for the Indonesian people in various countries, including students.

Through the service ecosystem prepared before departure, BNI hopes Indonesian students can pursue their education in Hong Kong with more practical transaction access and more planned financial management. (ADV)
