BNI Story Accompanying Customers to Own Their First Home After 14 Years of Marriage

JAKARTA - After 14 years of living a married life, Terry Alfrits Wagiu finally realized his dream of having his first house. The journalist from Tomohon obtained a residence at Grazia Residence 2 through the subsidized Home Ownership Credit (KPR) facility of PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI.

Terry is one of the beneficiaries of the mass deed and handover of 62,710 units of houses held by the government simultaneously on Thursday (30/7/2026).

His story received the attention of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto in a dialogue through a video conference connecting the main location of the event at the Puri Delta City Side Housing, Batang Regency, Central Java, with Tomohon.

During the dialogue, the President asked about the condition of the house that is now occupied by Terry, ranging from building quality to supporting facilities in the residential area.

"Very good, sir, very good. The water is smooth, the building is strong as well, the security is also, the night is bright, sir," said Terry when answering the President's question.

Terry also used this opportunity to express his gratitude for finally being able to have his own residence after waiting for more than a decade.

"I also want to say a lot of thanks, sir. Because through your program, I can have a house. I have been married for 14 years, I just got this house," he said.

Separately, BNI Commercial Banking Director Muhammad Iqbal said, Terry's experience showed the impact of access to housing financing on people's lives. For many families, a house is not only an asset, but also provides a sense of security, certainty, and a foundation for shaping the future.

"Terry's story is a real picture of how access to housing finance can provide direct benefits for improving people's welfare," Iqbal said in a written statement.

According to him, BNI as one of the banks distributing subsidized mortgages continues to support the Three Million House Program through the provision of financing for low-income people.

"BNI continues to be committed to supporting the Three Million House Program through the provision of easy, affordable, and sustainable access to financing for low-income people," he said.

Iqbal added that BNI's involvement in the mass agreement and the handover of the keys was part of the synergy between the government, banks, developers, and other stakeholders to expand access to home ownership.

The event was also attended by the Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning Maruarar Sirait, BP Tapera Commissioner Heru Pudyo Nugroho, the leadership of the State-Owned Bank Association, representatives of distributing banks, developers, and beneficiaries.

Terry's story is one of the portraits of how subsidized housing financing can help Indonesian families get their first home. Through support for the housing sector, BNI is trying to expand people's opportunities to have a decent place to live while building a safer and more planned life.
