PU Ministry Ensures Clean Water Supply Continues to Flow in the Middle of the Dry Season

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) continues to ensure that the public's need for clean water is still met in the midst of the dry season that has begun to hit a number of regions in the country.

Through the Directorate General of Water Resources, clean water distribution is carried out gradually to areas that experience water supply constraints.

One of the distributions was carried out in Brang Bulu Village, Seloto Village, Taliwang District, West Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, Thursday, July 30.

Minister PU Dody Hanggodo said that providing clean water services is one of the government's priorities, especially for people living in areas with limited water resources and affected by climate change.

"In the midst of a world that is constantly changing and full of uncertainty, water is a very important foundation for sustainable development," said Dody, quoted from a written statement, Saturday, August 1.

Dody assessed that the availability of clean water not only plays a role in meeting people's basic needs, but also supports economic, social and environmental development, especially during the dry season.

As part of these efforts, the Nusa Tenggara I River Basin Agency (BWS) distributed 5,000 liters of clean water using one tanker truck to a water storage point in Brang Bulu Village.

The assistance was distributed to 290 families (KK) or about 270 houses in Brang Bulu Village and Seloto Village which had limited access to clean water during the dry season.

The distribution was carried out by traveling about 26.5 kilometers to the hilly area.

Despite facing challenging geographical conditions, the distribution process went smoothly with the support of adequate road access.

Acting Head of the Nusa Tenggara I River Basin Agency (BBWS) Fajar Baskoro Wicaksono said that the distribution of clean water was also carried out through coordination with the village government and the West Sumbawa Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) so that the assistance was targeted.

"The distribution of clean water on the last day of implementation has run well and all of them have been successfully distributed to the beneficiaries. We also coordinate with the regional BPBD to ensure that the assistance is targeted and that the community's needs can continue to be monitored," said Fajar.

The PU Ministry emphasized that the distribution of clean water would continue to be carried out according to the needs of the community in areas experiencing drought.

This step is part of the government's commitment to maintaining basic services while improving community resilience in the face of the impact of the dry season and climate change.
