Prabowo Rides Nusantara Explorer, KAI Investigates Premium Tourist Train Wrapped in Nusantara Culture

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto tried the Nusantara Explorer in the agenda of the state trip today.

The tourist train developed by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) is designed to provide a travel experience that combines comfort, culinary, and the richness of Indonesian culture.

KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin said. Nusantara Explorer is a follow-up to President Prabowo's idea and order to present a tourist train that can strengthen the competitiveness of national tourism.

Bobby also said that this development is part of efforts to strengthen national tourism through rail-based transportation modes that present an Indonesian-characterized travel experience.

"Nusantara Explorer was born from the idea and order of President Prabowo Subianto for KAI to present a tourist train that provides a classy travel experience while introducing the richness of Indonesian culture. We follow up on this order through the ability and creativity of KAI people at the Gubeng Surabaya Yasa Center," said Bobby in an official statement, Thursday, July 30.

Bobby said that the entire development and modification process of the Nusantara Explorer was carried out at the Surabaya Gubeng Yasa Center. The series consists of 12 trains including sleeping cabin trains, Grand Restaurant, lounges, and operational support trains.

KAI offers three categories of sleeping cabins, namely Signature Class, Advance Class, and Compact Class, which offer different levels of privacy and comfort. Meanwhile, the Grand Restaurant is designed as a culinary service space, while the lounge is equipped with comfortable chairs, a bar, entertainment facilities, a piano, an audio system, and panoramic windows to enjoy the scenery along the way.

Indonesian identity is also presented through the train's interior design. Various cultural elements such as wayang kulit, Batik Lasem, Sekar Jagad, to Bali motifs are applied to interior elements, decorative patterns, materials, and color choices.

"Railways have great potential to strengthen national tourism. Our Nusantara Explorer is developed so that travel becomes part of the tourist experience, ranging from comfort, service, cuisine, to the cultural wealth that is present in every train compartment," he said.

According to Bobby, the development of Nusantara Explorer also shows the ability of Balai Yasa Surabaya Gubeng workers to develop railway facilities with increasingly diverse service standards.

Currently, continued Bobby, KAI is still perfecting the Nusantara Explorer before it is operated commercially.

Information regarding routes, schedules, tariffs, final composition of the series, and operating times will be announced after all aspects of operational, service, safety, and reliability of the facilities are declared ready.

"We appreciate the trust and order of the President to KAI. Nusantara Explorer is one of the steps to strengthen railway services while supporting the development of Indonesian tourism while prioritizing safety, reliability, and service quality," concluded Bobby.
