Summarecon Bekasi Station TOD groundbreaking realizes the concept of developing transit-oriented areas

JAKARTA - PT Summarecon Agung Tbk (Summarecon) together with the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, and the Ministry of Transportation, supported by the West Java Provincial Government and the Bekasi City Government, started the construction of the Bekasi Extension Station which is part of the Summarecon Transit Oriented Development (TOD).

The groundbreaking of the Bekasi Extension Station was marked by a siren ceremony conducted by the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Dr. H. Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono M.Sc., M.P.A., M.A; Deputy Minister of Transportation, Komjen Pol. Purn. Dr. Ir. Suntana, M.Si; Deputy Governor of West Java, H. Erwan Setiawan, S.E; Deputy Mayor of Bekasi, Dr. H. Abdul Harris Bobihoe, M.Si; Director of Operations for Regional Infrastructure and Safety 1 PT KAI, Awan Hermawan Purwadinata; Managing Director of Summarecon, Herman Nagaria; and President Director of Summarecon, Adrianto P. Adhi, who was also witnessed by a number of officials of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), along with a number of Commissioners and Directors of PT Summarecon Agung Tbk.

The construction of the Bekasi Extension Station, which is part of the Summarecon TOD, is a manifestation of synergy between the private sector and the government in realizing the concept of transit-oriented area development. Previously, when starting the development of Summarecon Bekasi in 2010, Summarecon had built the K.H. Noer Ali Summarecon Bekasi Fly Over along 1 kilometer. Built stretching over the railway crossing, this facilitates connectivity for the people of Bekasi City who live on the north side and south side of the railway, and is a solution to breaking the congestion that often occurs on Jalan Perjuangan.

Adrianto P. Adhi, President Director of PT Summarecon Agung Tbk said, his party was grateful because Summarecon was given the opportunity to play a role in answering the needs of the Indonesian people, especially in the Bekasi area.

"On this occasion, we want to play a role through a partnership with the Government to improve accessibility services for the public to get ease and convenience in accessing mass transportation, namely the train. With the presence of Bekasi Extension Station which is part of TOD Summarecon, Bekasi residents will be spared from the concentration of passenger congestion, because Bekasi Extension Station will serve passengers from the west and south, and Bekasi Station which is currently there, will serve more people from the north and east. This initiative will support more efficient community mobility, improve regional connectivity, and create a more sustainable urban environment," he said, quoted Saturday, July 25.

Collaboration and Synergy between Government and Private Sector

The construction of the Bekasi Extension Station, which is part of the Summarecon TOD, cannot be separated from the support and active role of various government agencies, both at the central and regional levels. The Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development and the Ministry of Transportation play a role in synchronizing the development and ensuring that TOD development is in line with the principles of TOD Indonesia.

Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono welcomed this initiative. The presence of the Bekasi Extension Station is not just the construction of physical infrastructure.

"The hope is that it will become an increasingly productive area that supports mobility, ease of community activities, and its development in accordance with the principles of Indonesia's Transit Oriented Development (TOD)," said AHY.

Deputy Minister of Transportation, Inspector General of Police. Purn. Dr. Ir. Suntana, M.Si. said, the Groundbreaking Construction of the Bekasi Station Extension in support of Transit Oriented Development (TOD) in Summarecon Bekasi is a very strategic step in the development of the railway network.

"Today, it is no longer only oriented towards providing infrastructure, but a major leap in realizing TOD-based area development which has an impact on improving the quality of urban space and encouraging people to switch to mass transportation. Through the expansion of Bekasi Station, we are weaving a future of more modern urban connectivity to accommodate increased service capacity and seamless intermodal integration. This station is expected to accommodate a surge in Commuter Line passengers and long-distance trains with much higher comfort standards," he explained.

Deputy Governor of West Java Province, H. Erwan Setiawan, S.E. said, this groundbreaking is not just a laying of the first stone, but a symbol of a step forward towards a better city space, more efficient mobility, and more inclusive economic growth.

"Bekasi is one of the important faces of West Java. This city continues to grow as a strategic area of economy, housing, and community mobility. With the presence of the TOD area, we hope that Bekasi will not only be a node of movement, but also a comfortable, productive, and livable area. Once again, thank you to PT Summarecon Agung Tbk for initiating this event and development," he said.

Development Concept

Bekasi Extension Station is part of Summarecon TOD, a concept of area development that places transit as the center of orientation. This building was built on an area of 7,038 m2, with a total building area of 6,733 m2 consisting of a three-story building with additional building infrastructure in the form of a connecting corridor and Sky Bridge.

The construction of the Bekasi Extension Station marks the initial phase of the TOD Area Development, which will be continued with the development of mass transportation lines that will connect the North of Bekasi City, passing through the Summarecon Bekasi area and TOD, then continuing to the Jabodebek LRT Station along 5 kilometers.
