JAKARTA - PT InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) targets the economic impact of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026 to exceed the previous year's achievement of Rp. 4.9 trillion.
ITDC Operations Director Troy Reza Warokka said the Indonesian MotoGP is not only a motorcycle racing event, but also a driver of sports tourism that has a multiplier effect on the economy.
"Last year it was probably around Rp. 4.9 trillion, we hope that with the presence of Indonesian racers, it should be more than that. In fact, MotoGP is not only a MotoGP event, but how sport tourism through MotoGP can increase the economy on a large scale," said Troy in a Media Gathering with Local Heroes Indonesia at Gelora Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, July 17.
According to Troy, the economic benefits of holding the MotoGP are not only felt by West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) as the host, but also other areas involved in the series of activities leading up to the race, including Jakarta.
"Not only NTB, but also other provinces including Jakarta. Today Jakarta has momentum, which means it must move. I hope that last year can move up, be more positive," he said.
In addition to targeting an increase in economic impact, ITDC also targets the number of Indonesian MotoGP 2026 spectators to reach 144,000 to 150,000 people. Troy is optimistic that this target can be achieved in line with the high enthusiasm of the public towards the presence of Mario Aji in Moto2 and Veda Ega Pratama in Moto3.
"We want to try to increase to 144,000 to 150,000 visitors, hopefully it will be achieved," he said.
Troy said that optimism was also supported by the commitment of the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) which would send around 8,000 spectators from various provinces to provide support to Indonesian racers.
"This is a form of positive support for our racers so that they will be more motivated," said Troy.
According to Troy, the high public interest can also be seen from ticket sales. All early bird tickets have been sold out and currently sales have entered the Presale 1 stage.
Until about 80 days before the race, the value of ticket sales transactions had reached around Rp2.5 billion or faster than the same period last year.
"Early bird is over and now it has entered the Presale 1 stage. In two weeks it suddenly ran out and this is a positive thing," concluded Troy.
