JAKARTA - The improvement of the Semarang-Demak-Kudus Line and the Pati-Rembang Line in Central Java's East Pantura continues to be rushed by the government.

The reason is that the route is the main access for logistics distribution and community mobility.

The Ministry of Public Works (PU) through the Central Java-DI Yogyakarta National Road Implementation Agency (BBPJN) is currently focusing on handling the Juwana-Pati Ring Road section along 990 meters with a width of 10.5 meters.

The handling is carried out through the reconstruction of rigid or concrete pavement at a number of points that have suffered heavy damage due to the high load of vehicles that pass every day.

Road repair work began with the demolition of the old pavement that was damaged, followed by the repair of the foundation.

Then, new concrete casting was carried out to increase the strength of the road structure as well as paving at the Old Juwana Bridge and the transition work between old and new concrete.

The handling of the Lingkar Juwana-Pati section is part of the Kudus-Pati-Rembang Road Preservation Package in the 2025-2027 fiscal year (TA) which is funded through the State Sharia Securities (SBSN) scheme.

The work package has a contract value of IDR 202.9 billion with a total effective handling of 14.66 kilometers.

The implementation period of the work is carried out for 540 calendar days from December 11, 2025 to June 3, 2027, followed by a maintenance period of one year until June 2, 2028.

Until now, the progress of work has reached 85 percent, leaving asphalt work on the Jeratun Bridge and the old Juwana Bridge which is targeted to be completed by mid-June 2026.

To maintain the quality of work, the construction was carried out with a total casting volume of 2,400 cubic meters and consistent quality control in the field.

This step is considered important because the Lingkar Juwana-Pati section is part of the Pantura strategic corridor with high vehicle volume and the dominance of large-tonnage freight.

In order to minimize the impact on traffic (lalin), BBPJN Central Java - DI Yogyakarta implements traffic engineering.

Small vehicles such as minibuses and motorcycles can still pass around the work site.

Meanwhile, large vehicles from Rembang to Pati are specially arranged, especially around the Jeratun Bridge which is experiencing narrowing because the width of the bridge is only 7.5 meters.

Meanwhile, vehicle traffic from Pati to Rembang is still facilitated according to the arrangements of officers in the field.

Minister PU Dody Hanggodo said the government was committed to maintaining the quality of national roads so that they remain safe and comfortable for the public, especially in the Pantura region of Java.

"The pantura line is the national umbilical cord of connectivity and logistics distribution. Therefore, the quality of national roads must be maintained so that it is safe for people and logistics vehicles to pass through," he said in a written statement, Friday, June 12.

According to Dody, his party will strive to carry out sustainable preservation so that the road conditions remain reliable to support regional economic growth.

"Through this preservation activity, we hope that the stability of national roads in the Pantura corridor will increase, so that regional connectivity, smooth logistics distribution and people's economic activities can continue to be maintained," he added.
