JAKARTA - Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) Maman Abdurrahman said the government would distribute Presidential Assistance (Banpres) worth Rp. 1.2 trillion to support the recovery of UMKM entrepreneurs affected by disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
Minister Maman explained that the distribution of the Banpres would be carried out in two stages. The first phase of Rp600 billion will be realized in 2026, while the second phase with the same value will be disbursed in 2027.
"The presidential ban will have two stages, the first stage of Rp600 billion in 2026, and the second stage with the same amount in 2027," said Maman, quoted on Thursday, June 4.
According to Maman, the assistance is a form of President Prabowo Subianto's response to the aspirations of micro entrepreneurs who are affected by disasters and need support to recover their business activities.
He added that the budget for the Presidential Decree was sourced from the State Budget (APBN) which was part of the Master Plan for the Acceleration of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction after Natural Disasters (Renduk PRRP) for the Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra regions.
Through the economic rehabilitation program, the government targets as many as 200,000 micro-entrepreneurs to receive the benefits of assistance. Each recipient will receive a business capital stimulus assistance of IDR 3 million.
"Capital assistance worth Rp. 3 million is only given to entrepreneurs who have not accessed banking financing. Meanwhile, for those who have obtained bank financing access, the handling is carried out through the available mechanisms in the banking sector," said Maman.
To ensure that the assistance is targeted, the central government will soon hold a coordination meeting with the local government in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra to prepare the process of data collection and verification of potential beneficiaries.
"For our brothers and sisters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, we have now started to make various preparations. The UMKM Clinic program in each region is still ongoing until now," he said.
