The Corporate Secretary of PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero), Dian Sovana, said that labor certification is an important part of maintaining the quality of the development of national education infrastructure.
"Brantas Abipraya believes that the success of construction is not only determined by the quality of materials and construction technology, but also by the competence of human resources involved in the field. Therefore, we fully support the implementation of this construction labor certification as part of our commitment to present quality, safe, and sustainable development," said Dian Sovana, in a statement, Monday, June 1.
According to him, the construction of the People's School requires competent labor so that the target of quality, safety, and timeliness of the project can be optimally achieved.
"The People's School program is a strategic project that has a major social impact on the community. Through this certification, we want to ensure that the workforce at the forefront of development has the competence according to national standards and is able to deliver the best work results," he added.
This certification activity was carried out onsite at the project site to ensure that the assessment process runs effectively without disrupting the progress of construction work in the field.
Acting Director General of Construction at the Ministry of Public Works, Indro Pantja Pramodo, emphasized that the construction sector has a strategic role in national economic growth.
"The construction sector contributes 10.96 percent to the national Gross Domestic Product and absorbs around 8.5 million workers. Therefore, strengthening the competence of construction workers is an important step to ensure that the development of national infrastructure runs with the best quality," said Indro Pantja Pramodo.
He added that the construction of the People's School is part of the government's priority agenda in strengthening the quality of Indonesian human resources.
"The success of strategic projects such as the People's School depends heavily on the quality of construction labor in the field. In accordance with the mandate of Law Number 2 of 2017 concerning Construction Services, every labor must have a Certificate of Work Competence. This certification is not just an administrative formality, but a form of quality assurance for the infrastructure being built," he explained.
Indro also appreciated the collaboration between the government and the construction SOEs in supporting the acceleration of national development through the improvement of construction human resources competence.
"We appreciate the synergy between BJKW II Palembang and Brantas Abipraya through the implementation of certification with the onsite method. This approach is effective because it does not interfere with the progress of the project and is able to accelerate the fulfillment of the need for certified labor in the field," he said.
Based on data from the Ministry of PU, the infrastructure development agenda in 2026 is estimated to require support for around 37,356 construction workers, consisting of 754 experts, 2,676 technicians, and 33,926 operators.
