JAKARTA - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) officially reopened the bridge connecting the pier and ship or moveable bridge (MB) at Bajoe Port, South Sulawesi, after the thorough revitalization was completed.

The reopening of the MB was marked by the implementation of a test run on Thursday, May 21, after ASDP completed the commissioning process and load test with related stakeholders.

This revitalization is part of ASDP's efforts to strengthen inter-island connectivity while improving the safety and comfort of people using crossing services.

PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) Corporate Secretary, Windy Andale, said that the revitalization of the MB Bajoe Port is a manifestation of the company's commitment to providing a higher quality ferry transportation service.

"This MB improvement is expected to improve the smoothness of operations, safety, and the comfort of people using the crossing service," Windy said in an official statement, Thursday, May 21.

In the revitalization, ASDP carried out a total replacement of the MB structure and hydraulic system with an increase in capacity from 30 tons to 50 tons. In addition, the company also strengthened the trestle bridge to the MB to ensure that port operations run more safely, stably, and reliably in the long term.

Not only focusing on infrastructure, ASDP also carried out a refreshment of port facilities through painting the port area so that the environment becomes more comfortable and representative.

Windy explained that the construction of infrastructure carried out by the company is not only oriented towards physical aspects, but must also have a positive impact on the surrounding community.

During the revitalization process, he continued, ASDP carried out a number of social programs such as distributing basic necessities and entrepreneurship training for Bajoe residents.

In addition, around 25 local residents were also involved in the process of revitalizing the MB and port facilities.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) Bajoe Branch, Anom S. Panatagama said that the revitalized pier was designed to have a durability of up to 20 years.

"We are grateful that the entire repair process can be completed according to the target and ready to support the smooth running of the community crossing service," he said.

Currently, ASDP Bajoe Branch serves two commercial routes, namely Bajoe-Kolaka and Siwa-Tobaku, as well as two pilot routes, Maccini Baji-Sabutung and Maccini Baji-Balanglompo.

On the other hand, ASDP also continues to strengthen the security aspect of the port. One of them is through a joint exercise simulating bomb threat handling held on May 16, 2026 with the Bone Police, South Sulawesi Gegana Detachment, C Battalion of the Pelopor Brimob, and the Port Area Police.

Bone Regent Andi Asman Sulaiman conveyed his appreciation for the completion of the pier revitalization.

According to him, the Bajoe Port has a strategic role in supporting regional economic growth and community mobility.

He also hopes that the connectivity of the Bajoe Port in the future can be further expanded through the addition of crossing routes to various other regions.

"We are grateful to ASDP for repairing this pier. It is our common obligation to maintain and preserve it," said Andi.
