JAKARTA - The Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) has collaborated with international airlines, by presenting direct flights from Singapore to Belitung, to increase the interest of foreign tourists.

The Deputy for Marketing of the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, said that the private airline company that opened the new route had started its first operation with the Singapore-Tanjung Pandan, Belitung route on May 3, 2026.

"The presence of this new route is expected to increase the number of foreign tourists, especially from the Singapore market, to one of Indonesia's priority tourism destinations," said Ni Made Ayu Marthini in an official statement received in Jakarta, Thursday, as reported by Antara.

He explained that the initial phase of this service has a schedule of only two times each week, namely Wednesday and Sunday, with a capacity of 112 seats per flight.

According to him, this latest route can facilitate several consumer needs such as leisure travel needs and short visits.

In the initial stage, this flight had an occupancy rate of 73.2 percent or as many as 82 passengers. This proves the high interest in the city because it has strong and competitive appeal for the international market, especially tourists from Singapore.

"Belitung has very strong tourism potential and is in line with the characteristics of Singaporean tourists, ranging from marine tourism, culinary, to quality leisure experiences. The opening of this route is a strategic step in expanding access for foreign tourists to Belitung," said Made.

Belitung itself has various characteristics that can pamper foreign and local guests that are difficult to find in other areas, such as the beauty of the iconic granite rock cluster, white sandy beaches, to the exclusive island hopping experience.

Therefore, the Ministry of Tourism together with stakeholders is committed to continue to strengthen promotion in the Singapore market to increase awareness while maintaining the trend of growth in the number of passengers.

This effort is expected to further strengthen Belitung's position as Indonesia's flagship destination in the international arena.
