JAKARTA - The Indonesian Association of Retailers and Mall Tenants (Hippindo) said that the Inabuyer B2B2G Expo 2026 was a concrete solution in the midst of the difficulty of finding quality suppliers to support retail expansion in Indonesia.
This activity is considered strategic in bringing together large retailers with MSMEs who are ready to enter the professional business ecosystem.
The General Chairman of Hippindo Budiharjo Iduansjah revealed that the retail industry currently needs certainty of supply in line with the plan to open physical stores in various provinces and regencies as part of the national strategy to strengthen the economy.
Budiharjo also emphasized the view that the involvement of large retailers in the event is not merely carrying out a social responsibility program or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
"This is really a business need. It's hard to find suppliers. At Inabuyer, suppliers come directly with their goods. Major retailers such as Aeon to Indomaret also admit to getting many new suppliers through this event," said Budiharjo in his closing remarks at the Inabuyer B2B2G Expo 2026 at the Smesco Building, Jakarta, Thursday, May 7.
He added that the availability of product variations of both food and non-food products such as electric vehicles will be directly proportional to the growth of physical outlets.
"The more product variations, the more physical stores we can open, which means that more labor absorption will be achieved," he said.
The retail entrepreneur also gave high appreciation to the improvement in the quality of UMKM participants this year. Entering its fourth year of implementation, Budihardjo saw that Indonesian MSMEs were much more professional in penetrating the market through business matching sessions.
"MSME actors now understand the importance of business matching. They come with thorough preparation, bringing business cards, catalogs, and samples of qualified products," he explained.
This condition is inversely proportional to the first year of implementation, where many business actors still do not understand the mechanism of professional business meetings.
"We need quality products that can be sold in modern retail, whether located in malls or outside malls. Through Inabuyer, we hope that Indonesian suppliers will be more qualified and their products will be able to compete nationally and globally," he added.
The Inabuyer B2B2G Expo 2026 was officially closed on Thursday, May 7, 2026. It is known that the potential value of transactions at the three-day event reached IDR 2.21 trillion.
"Then during the implementation of the Inabuyer B2B2G Expo 2026, a total of Rp2.2 trillion in shopping transactions and potential cooperation from state-owned enterprises and large businesses have been achieved," said Secretary of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Loto Srinaita Ginting.
Loto emphasized that support for local business actors should not only stop at the buy-off action, but must continue in the form of sustainable supply chain partnerships.
"Supporting MSMEs is not enough to buy their products once in a while. Support will continue if the partnership is a supply chain partnership. When a big business advances, he will lift the MSMEs below him," he said.
