JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo targets that the progress of the People's School (SR) construction in Dharmasraya Regency, West Sumatra, is at least two percent per day so that the project can be completed and used in the July 2026 New Academic Year.
The target was revealed by Dody when he directly reviewed the construction of SR in Dharmasraya Regency, West Sumatra, Wednesday, May 6.
During the visit, Dody was accompanied by Member of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives Zigo Rolanda, Deputy Governor (Wagub) of West Sumatra Vasko Ruseimy and Dharmasraya Regent Annisa Suci Ramadhani.
"As of yesterday afternoon, I have coordinated about 9 percent. So hopefully by June 20 it will be completed. There may be some that are not yet completed, and I have conveyed that the grass for the football field should be sown immediately because it takes a long time and cannot be sudden. But overall (overall) it's good," said Dody.
Dody assessed that the acceleration of development continued to be carried out so that the work was completed according to schedule. He even asked for the daily progress delay to be immediately pursued the next day.
"So for the People's School in Dharmasraya, we are chasing. Hopefully, per day can be at least two percent. If, for example, per day can't reach two percent because of rain or other things, tomorrow I ask to catch up," he said.
"So, if today you miss half a percent, it means tomorrow you have to be 2.5 percent. Because our younger siblings are now still in the Rintisan People's School, they must be able to enter the new school in the new school year in July 2026," he continued.
He also appreciated all parties involved in the construction of SR, starting from the SR Acceleration Task Force Phase 2, the Strategic Infrastructure Directorate General (Ditjen) team to the implementing contractor who continues to ensure daily progress and material readiness in the field.
"I saw with my own eyes, the Task Force for the Acceleration of Phase 2 SR is working well. The coordination is good. Contractors are also moving quickly. Everyone is working together to ensure that daily progress goes well, including material readiness," said Dody.
SR is designed as an integrated educational facility ranging from elementary school, junior high school to high school.
The facilities that have been prepared include dormitories, dining areas, places of worship, sports facilities, football fields to athletic fields. The government also covers the needs of student education such as uniforms and books.
The construction of SR is carried out through the Ministry of PU as part of efforts to expand access to decent education while supporting the eradication of extreme poverty and improving the quality of human resources (HR).
"So, actually this is a noble idea of President Prabowo Subianto with the aim that extreme poverty can be immediately eliminated from Indonesia. It is also in line with the slogan of PU 608. And the elimination of extreme poverty is the easiest through schools, there is no other way. In addition, it is also to prepare the Indonesian Golden Generation 2045," he said.
Meanwhile, West Sumatra Deputy Governor Vasco Ruseimy said that the West Sumatra Provincial Government (Pemprov) fully supports the acceleration of SR development as an effort to increase access to education for the poor.
"The West Sumatra Provincial Government targets the construction of an additional seven People's Schools next year with an average area of 8-10 hectares," he added.
