JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi asked the public to wait for the official investigation results from the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) regarding the accident between the electric train (KRL) and the Argo Bromo Anggrek train in the East Bekasi area some time ago.
Dudy emphasized that the investigation process carried out by the KNKT was comprehensive and objective in order to uncover the exact cause of the accident, as well as formulate safety recommendations for the future.
"The KNKT investigation process is carried out comprehensively, objectively, by collecting facts and information on the ground, considering various things and comprehensive analysis. For this reason, let's all respect the process and wait for the results of the investigation to find out exactly what caused the accident," said Dudy in an official statement, Monday, May 4.
In the investigation process, said Dudy, KNKT is known to have simulated the train signaling system as part of an effort to uncover the possible technical causes of the accident, especially related to the function and response of the system during the incident.
The simulation is focused on understanding whether there are obstacles in the signaling system that contribute to the incident between the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and the Argo Bromo Anggrek train at Bekasi Timur Station which occurred on April 27, 2026.
"Until now, the KNKT is still continuing various other stages of investigation," he said.
Dudy said the Ministry of Transportation stated that it would follow up on all the results of the investigation issued by the KNKT.
This step is carried out as part of the government's commitment to improving the safety of national railway operations.
Previously reported, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Regional Operation 1 Jakarta said that there had been a disruption of train travel in the East Bekasi area, specifically at the East Bekasi Station KM 28+920, which occurred on Monday, April 27, 2026 at 20.52 WIB.
The disruption occurred due to the event of the tertemper of PLB 5568A (CL KPB-CKR) by PLB 4B (KA Argo Bromo Anggrek Gambir-Surabaya Pasar Turi relationship) at the location of the incident, which had an impact on the operation of train travel on the line.
KAI Jakarta Regional Office 1 Public Relations Manager, Franoto Wibowo, said PT KAI together with the police were carrying out the evacuation process for the train series and handling the victims at the scene.
"We are trying our best so that railway travel operations can return to normal as soon as possible," said Franoto.
