JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia stated that crude oil or crude from Russia will soon enter Indonesia as part of efforts to maintain national energy supply resilience amid global geopolitical dynamics.
This step is also part of the realization of the commitment to import 150 million barrels of oil from Russia which will be carried out gradually until the end of 2026.
When met after attending the IPB Alumni Gathering in Jakarta, Saturday, Bahlil emphasized that the government currently prioritizes the availability of all types of fuel oil (BBM) to meet the needs of the community and industry.
"For me, the most important thing is that all our stocks are there. And for (crude oil) Russia, it will be coming soon," said Bahli as quoted by Antara.
However, Bahlil did not explain in more detail the volume of Russian crude oil imports that will soon enter Indonesia or the refinery that will later process the crude oil in the country.
He said the government was focusing on ensuring the availability of various types of fuels, ranging from solar to gasoline with various octane numbers, amid still volatile global conditions.
According to him, in the current global geopolitical situation, countries must prioritize energy supply security before taking further steps related to other energy policies.
"In a situation like this, the state must guarantee the availability of all types of fuel. That is much more important," he said.
Regarding the mechanism and price of importing Russian crude oil, Bahlil said that certainty was a business to business (B2B) realm.
In addition to crude oil, the government has also opened the opportunity to import liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from Russia. However, according to Bahlil, the plan is still in the discussion stage.
However, he ensured that the national LPG stock is currently above the national minimum limit.
"Until now, our LPG stock is all above the national minimum standard," said Bahlil.
