BANDUNG - The West Java Provincial Government (Jabar) ensures that the rights of workers affected by layoffs in the province are fulfilled, so that they are calmer to quickly return to the world of work or entrepreneurship.

Head of the West Java Manpower and Transmigration Service (Disnakertrans) I Gusti Agung Kim Fajar Wiyati Oka revealed that it was responding to data on the number of workers who were laid off in the first quarter of 2026, referring to data from the Ministry of Manpower, the number was as many as 1,721 people.

"The rights of workers that are ensured to be fulfilled after layoffs, including severance pay/compensation, claims for Job Loss Guarantee (JKP) and Old Age Guarantee," said Kim in Bandung, Saturday as reported by Antara.

Disnakertrans West Java also took mitigation steps so that this layoff would not spread.

"We ensure that there are stimulus programs from the government that can ease the industrial world," said Kim Agung.

According to Kim, the layoffs that are currently taking place are influenced by external and internal factors. External factors, among others, the occurrence of a global crisis triggered by the Iran-Israel-America coalition war.

The war triggered many upheavals, such as rising fuel prices, plastics and several other commodities. The war also affects some export products, thus impacting industries in Indonesia, especially West Java.

Protection against the threat of layoffs is one of the demands of workers on May 1, 2026 Labor Day.

The layoffs triggered by both domestic and global situations are considered to worsen uncertainty for workers in various sectors.
