JAKARTA - PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) continues to expand its export market reach to the African continent. Through its subsidiary, PT Semen Indonesia International (SII), SIG made the first export of 45,000 metric tons (MT) of clinker to Mauritania, North West Africa, through the SIG Special Port of Tuban Plant, East Java, in March 2026. The shipment of 45,000 MT of clinker is the first phase of a total of 90,000 MT to be exported to Mauritania in 2026.

SIG's Corporate Secretary, Vita Mahreyni, said that in addition to transforming the management of the domestic market, SIG also continues to maximize the potential of the regional market. Expansion into the Mauritania market is SIG's strategic step to strengthen global market penetration, especially in the developing African continent.

"The African continent has high prospects for infrastructure growth. Meeting international standards, SIG is optimistic that it can continue to improve its competitiveness in the global market," said Vita Mahreyni, in a written statement, Friday, April 10.

Mauritania is considered a strategic and potential market because of the high demand for building materials to support infrastructure projects, but has limited domestic clinker production capacity.

Vita Mahreyni added that SIG's expansion into Mauritania reflects SIG's commitment to maintaining growth that contributes to the Company's sales performance. In 2025, SIG managed to record regional sales of 7.95 million tons, an increase of 14.3% year on year (yoy) compared to the same period last year of 6.96 million tons.

"SIG has a strong commitment to continue supporting regional development through the availability of building materials and distribution reliability. Therefore, in the future, SIG will continue to expand its export network to other potential regions. We hope that this initiative will also further strengthen SIG's steps to become the largest building materials company in the region," said Vita Mahreyni.
