WIKA President Director Agung Budi Waskito (Agung BW) said that the construction of the residence was a follow-up to the initiation of the Ministry of Housing and Spatial Planning (PKP), BUMN Regulation Agency and Danantara. Mainly provided for the relocation of residents who occupy the railway embankment in the Senen area.
"This residential project in Senen is a form of WIKA's support in providing housing solutions that are not only physically viable, but also integrated with the transportation system and the economic activities of the community," said Agung BW as quoted from a written statement, Wednesday, April 8.
WIKA is working on 113 modular huntara units out of a total of 324 units. Each unit has an area of about 4.5x4.5 meters and is equipped with basic facilities, such as PDAM clean water, electricity to open spaces. Then, there is supporting infrastructure such as access roads, drainage, prayer rooms, playgrounds and communal kitchens.
The project has started on April 3, 2026 and is targeted to be completed on June 15, 2026 with a design and build contract scheme.
Currently, work has entered the initial phase which includes land clearing, earthworks as well as the mobilization of materials and equipment. The construction process will continue to be accelerated to achieve the target of completion according to schedule.
"The company is committed to completing this project on time with the best quality, so that it can immediately provide real benefits to the people who will be residents," he said.
Previously, the Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning (PKP) Maruarar Sirait alias Ara conveyed that as many as 324 houses would be built as part of efforts to provide decent housing and organize the area so that it is more orderly and safe around Pasar Senen Station.
The Minister of PKP Ara together with the Head of the State-Owned Enterprise Management Agency (BP) Dony Oskaria directly reviewed the readiness for construction on Thursday evening, April 2. The review was a follow-up to the previous coordination meeting which discussed the provision of land and the construction of housing together with a number of SOEs.
"Yesterday we met with Mr. Doni at the BP BUMN Building, then also with BUMN who owns this land, namely Angkasa Pura. Today I am very happy to see the readiness very quickly," said Ara in a written statement, Friday, April 3.
Ara added that construction had begun, including the land clearing phase and the preparation of technical planning.
The program is also part of President Prabowo Subianto's direction to accelerate the provision of decent housing for the community.
A total of 324 housing units will be built in the area. In addition to houses, the government is also preparing supporting facilities such as open spaces for children.
"In total, there will be 324 units to be built here. Then there will also be an open space for children to play," explained Ara.
The housing was built through cross-BUMN collaboration, with land owned by Angkasa Pura and the support of various parties.
Not only in Senen, the relocation program will also be expanded to other areas such as Tanah Abang and Kampung Bandan. The government plans to review the location directly in the near future.
This step shows the government's commitment to providing a real solution for residents who have been living on the railway embankment with less than ideal conditions.
