JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) has recorded the highest ever daily transaction record of the use of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU). On H+2 Lebaran or Monday, March 23, the number of charging transactions for electric vehicles or Electric Vehicle (EV) reached 18,088 times with an energy consumption of 427,980 kilowatt hours (kWh).
Both indicators increased 4.15 times compared to the same period last year of 4,360 transactions and 103,010 kWh.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo, said that this high daily transaction reflects the public's increasing confidence in the reliability of the electric vehicle infrastructure provided by PLN together with its partners, especially during the Idulfitri homecoming momentum.
"More than just numbers, this achievement shows that the SPKLU development strategy, both in terms of quantity, technology, and digital service integration, encourages increased public confidence in using electric vehicles, including for long-distance travel," said Darmawan, quoted Monday, March 30.
As the adoption of EVs in the country grows, PLN together with partners has provided 4,769 SPKLU units spread across 3,097 points throughout Indonesia, with an average distance between SPKLU of around 22 kilometers. Especially on the main homecoming routes of Trans Sumatra, Java, and Bali, there are 1,681 SPKLU units in 994 points both toll and non-toll roads, an increase of around 70 percent compared to last year's Eid al-Fitr.
"We have also deployed 15 SPKLU Mobile units at strategic toll exit points to anticipate EV users who need emergency charging. We also have thousands of personnel deployed to support the smooth operation of SPKLU during the standby period," added Darmawan.
In addition to adding infrastructure, PLN also improves service quality through the modernization of charging technology. A number of SPKLU with high occupancy rates have been upgraded from standard charging to fast charging to ultra fast charging to speed up the charging process.
"Efforts to improve service quality are also accompanied by strengthening the digital service ecosystem, through the Electric Vehicle Digital Services (EVDS) feature in the PLN Mobile application," he said.
