JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) through the Directorate General of Land Transportation has implemented an acceleration of the ship loading and unloading scheme to disperse vehicle density at the Gilimanuk Port, Bali.
As a result, the queue of vehicles that had previously flowed was successfully suppressed and the traffic flow gradually became normal.
Director General of Land Transportation, Aan Suhanan, said that as of Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 16.00 WITA, there were no queues of vehicles heading to the port because all vehicles had entered the buffer zone.
"We are still working with stakeholders to mitigate so that there is no queue of vehicles around the port so that traffic flows back to normal," Aan said in an official statement, Wednesday, March 18.
Aan explained that one of the key steps taken was to speed up loading and unloading time through the implementation of the arrival-unloading-departure (TBB) system which was shortened to 15 minutes. This scheme is considered effective in reducing service time (port time) so as to speed up the movement of ships.
In addition, the Ministry of Transportation also operates additional ships on the Ketapang - Gilimanuk Port route. Currently, a total of 40 ships are operated, with 30 of them having implemented the acceleration TBB system.
Aan emphasized that the optimization of port time is an important factor in reducing vehicle density, especially ahead of Nyepi Day which has the potential to increase community mobility in the Bali area and its surroundings.
Furthermore, Aan hopes that with the consistency of the implementation of the scheme, vehicle queues will not occur again and traffic flow around the port will remain under control.
"I would like to thank all stakeholders, including the police and ASDP who have collaborated to mitigate the density in Gilimanuk. We are also grateful to all the people for following the existing provisions so that now the vehicle queue can be resolved," said Aan.
