Purbaya Appoints Hundreds of Officials at the Eselon Level, Reminds Them to Maintain Integrity and Fiscal Resilience

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa appointed 1,585 officials in the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) on Tuesday, March 10.

Of the total, 44 people are officials of the First High Leadership (level II).

Purbaya said that the newly appointed officials were expected to carry out their duties with full responsibility because their work was directly related to the management of public funds and maintaining the fiscal sustainability of the country.

"This is not a normal administrative event, this is a state decision because the position you hold is not just a bureaucratic position, this is a position that also determines the fiscal sustainability of the country," he said at the inauguration at his office, Tuesday, March 10.

He also reminded all levels to work professionally and not commit violations.

Purbaya assessed that although most employees work well, the mistakes made by a few people can damage the image and integrity of the institution as a whole.

Furthermore, he emphasized, the Ministry of Finance is now treated the same as other ministries or institutions, so that any violations will be dealt with firmly without exception.

He hopes that in the future there will be no more employees of the Ministry of Finance who are involved in legal cases, including the Operation of Catching Hands (OTT) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the examination by the Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia.

For this reason, he asked the Inspector General to work more proactively in detecting violations internally before they were known to outsiders.

According to him, if there are mistakes in the internal environment, the handling must be carried out first by the internal supervisory team with firm action in accordance with applicable regulations.

"So I don't want our people, the Tax, Customs, other employees to be inspected, raided by the prosecutor's office, the KPK, the police to the house. If there is a mistake, the team should know first, and we will take action according to the rules as hard as possible, as hard as possible if necessary, but who controls us so that our image is not too bad outside," he said.

During the inauguration, a number of officials were placed in various work units, including the General Secretariat, Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Directorate General of Treasury, Directorate General of State Assets, Directorate General of Financing and Risk Management, Inspectorate General, and several institutions under the Ministry of Finance such as LPDP, National Single Window (LNSW), and STAN State Finance Polytechnic.
