JAKARTA - The Lampahan Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) in Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh, has been confirmed to be functional again. The SPAM is back in operation to serve clean water for 3,000 households (KK) in the local area after the late November 2025 flood.

The functionality of SPAM was confirmed by the Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo after conducting an inspection on Monday, March 9.

"Yesterday, it was damaged, we have repaired it and it is functional. This SPAM Lampahan is able to provide clean water services for almost 3,000 households," said Dody as quoted from a written statement, Tuesday, March 10.

Dody assessed that the handling was carried out gradually, starting from the recovery of water sources, repair of processing infrastructure to strengthening the distribution system so that services could run continuously.

In the future, he continued, the PU Ministry will add a new Water Treatment Plant (IPA) with a capacity of 20 liters per second to ensure the acceleration of the recovery of clean water services for the community after the disaster some time ago.

"So, our hope is that all the water distributed to households has gone through the processing process. So, it can minimize pollution or bacteria," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Aceh Building, Infrastructure and Area Arrangement Office (BPBPK) of the Ministry of PU Tommy Permadhy's Cipta Karya, explained that the Lampahan IPA has a capacity of around 20-30 liters per second and is able to serve the needs of clean water for around five villages in the surrounding area.

"Alhamdulillah, the installation has now begun to be functionalized," he said.

Tommy added that his party had also taken various handling steps, including cleaning the landslide and sediment material in the intake area and reopening access to the location so that repairs could run more optimally.

"We also protect water sources so that they are not polluted by activities around the area, so that the quality of treated water is maintained," he explained.

In the future, he continued, his party will continue to continue the work of restoring and improving the SPAM Lampahan infrastructure so that the coverage of clean water services for the community in Bener Meriah Regency can increase.

In addition, repairs will also be carried out on distribution pipes that had been damaged in several places due to the disaster.

"Currently, there are several improvements. Of course, in the future, hopefully, we can provide more service coverage for the community in the Bener Meriah area and its surroundings," he concluded.
