JAKARTA - The government is focusing on controlling the 2026 Lebaran homecoming flow at the strategic crossing routes of Merak-Bakauheni and Ketapang-Gilimanuk.

This step was taken following the projection of increased community mobility during this year's homecoming season, which is expected to increase again.

ASDP President Director Heru Widodo emphasized that PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry ensures full support for government policies to ensure the smooth running of Lebaran Transportation, especially on the two busiest routes.

Heru said the fleet's readiness during the Lebaran period. On the Merak-Bakauheni track, 28-33 ships per day were prepared, 9-12 ships at Ciwandan-Wika Beton, 10-12 ships at BBJ Bojonegara-BBJ Muara Pilu, and 28-32 ships at Ketapang-Gilimanuk.

"All of this readiness is a commitment to provide orderly, safe, and controlled Lebaran services," said Heru in an official statement, Tuesday, March 3.

In addition to the fleet, ASDP also strengthens services through the optimization of the Port Operation Control Center (POCC) based on real-time monitoring, 24-hour customer service, the addition of express docks, the provision of portable toilets, and the improvement of port area lighting.

Nationally, ASDP projects passenger movement to reach 5.8 million people or an increase of 9.4 percent compared to the previous period. Vehicle movement is estimated to reach 1.4 million units or an increase of 9.3 percent.

Furthermore, Heru said ASDP also appealed to the public to buy tickets through the Ferizy application or website starting from H-60, to come to the port according to the schedule on the ticket.

"And ensure that the filling of identity data is done completely and correctly for the accuracy of the manifest and the safety of the voyage," he said.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, Aan Suhanan, said that the port distribution had been prepared together with all stakeholders to disperse the density at a number of main nodes, such as Merak Port, Bakauheni Port, Ketapang Port, and Gilimanuk Port.

"The vehicle-based strategy is applied so that the distribution of crossing flows is more even and the potential for congestion can be prevented from the start," he said.

Referring to the SKB dated February 5, 2026, on the return flow from March 13-20, 2026, the Merak-Bakauheni route is arranged as follows: pedestrians and vehicles of groups IVa, Va, VIa, and IVb remain through Merak; groups I, II, III, Vb and VIb (two axes) through Ciwandan; while trucks VIb (three axes), VII, VIII, and IX are directed to BBJ Bojonegara or the buffer zone if they are subject to operational restrictions. A similar scheme is applied to the return flow from March 23-29, 2026 with adjustments to the destination direction.

Meanwhile, on the Ketapang-Gilimanuk and MB Pier routes on March 13-29, 2026, services are prioritized for passengers and small vehicles.

Goods vehicles are diverted to LCM and Bulusan Piers to maintain the smooth distribution.

To strengthen control, a delaying system is applied through a buffer zone on toll and non-toll sections leading to the port, as well as restrictions on the radius of ticket purchases. This step aims to prevent long queues in the port area and ensure that vehicle traffic remains under control.
