JAKARTA - PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) continues to monitor the safety of workers and ship crews currently in the Middle East region due to the impact of the escalation of the conflict.
PIS Vega Pita's Deputy Corporate Secretary explained that the branch office in Dubai, namely PIS Middle East (PIS ME) which currently has 30 employees and their families.
"The current conditions of PIS Middle East workers and families are confirmed to be safe, and the company continues to monitor the situation in Dubai. Our workers also follow the appeals of the Indonesian Embassy there to continue to increase vigilance, report, and contact the KBRI hotline and KJRI if there is an emergency situation," said PIS Corporate Secretary Pjs Vega Pita in a statement to the media, Monday, March 2.
Vega emphasized that the company's main focus at this time is to ensure the safety of workers and ship crews as well as the operational safety of the fleet in strategic routes.
Regarding the position of the fleet in the region, PIS reported that there were four ships that were in the Middle East area; namely the Gamsunoro ship which was in the loading process in Khor al Zubair - Iraq, the Pertamina Pride ship which had completed the loading process and was now berthed in Ras Tanura - Saudi Arabia, the PIS Rinjani ship which is currently berthed in Khor Fakkan - UAE, and the PIS Paragon ship which is currently discharging in Oman.
PIS continues to ensure to monitor the security conditions of the 4 ships. PIS proactively coordinates with the ship management and local maritime authorities to increase vigilance.
PIS also continues to maintain intensive communication and comply with the appeals and directions issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Indonesian Consulate General in Dubai.
There are two ships still in the bay area, namely Pertamina Pride with Ship Management from NYK, and the Gamsunoro ship which is currently managed by Synergy Ship Management.
Both are also continuously monitored in real time to ensure security conditions.
"While continuing to follow developments 24/7, we are trying to get our two ships out of the bay area as soon as possible. Currently, our fleet team is in intensive communication with the management to coordinate and ensure the safety of the crew and the ship," added Vega.
