JAKARTA - The high national accident rate (Kemnaker data) has reached 300,000 cases in 2024 is an indication that the performance of Occupational Safety and Health (K3) in Indonesia is still facing serious challenges. Some incidents, including those that cause fatalities or fatalities.
Apart from regulations, the commitment of the job provider to facilitate a safe working environment is also a key. As a leading building materials solution provider in Indonesia, PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk's (SIG) commitment to the implementation of the K3 culture has successfully recorded Nihil Fatalitas (recordable) in all cement plant operating areas by 2025. This achievement is a reflection of the Company's strong commitment by placing K3 as the main value in daily worker activities.
Closing the 2026 National K3 Month series of the SIG Group which was held hybridly from PT Semen Tonasa, Pangkep, South Sulawesi, the Director of SIG Operations, Reni Wulandari emphasized that the commemoration of the National K3 Month was not merely an annual ceremonial agenda but a momentum for reflection on awareness as well as evaluation of the implementation of K3 culture in the SIG Group environment.
"National K3 Month is also a reminder of SIG's commitment to placing K3 as a core value that not only aims to prevent work accidents and Work-Related Diseases (PAK), but also to ensure the comfort of employees and Company partners in working so that it is more optimal and productive," said Reni Wulandari, in a written statement, Thursday, February 26.
On the 2026 National K3 Month, SIG raised the theme "From Compliance to Resillience: SIG People as Drivers of K3 Culture in the Implementation of Inclusive, Collaborative and Sustainable K3". This theme highlights the strategic role of individuals as the main drivers of K3 success. Through this theme, SIG also shows its commitment to improving safety maturity or the ability to overcome safety risks to a higher level in a sustainable manner.
The implementation of the K3 aspect in SIG is supported by the strong commitment of the Company's management through policies and standardization across all subsidiaries, as well as continuous supervision and becoming a form of leadership commitment (leadership) that is not only present in the field, but can also be felt by all employees.
In addition to Nihil Fatalitas, in 2025, SIG managed to record a Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate of 0.13 from the target of 0.3 and a Lost Time Injury Severity Rate of 1.01 from the target of 5, as well as the achievement of implementation of leading indicators, including through the Safety Observation Tour program, Corporate Life Saving Rules (CLSR) improvement plan, Visible Safety Leadership (VSL) Ambassador, CSMS, Safety Academy, emergency response preparedness, and others.
Based on this commitment, SIG has received various awards, including the Zero Accident Award from the Ministry of Manpower, the Best Tropi & Aditama Award for Mining Safety Management from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and the Indonesian Conference & Competition on Occupational Safety & Health (ICC-OSH) Award.
One of the strategic efforts of SIG in strengthening the culture of occupational safety in the SIG Group environment is through the implementation of VSL, namely the active involvement of management lines that go directly to the field to engage in dialogue, conduct observations and constructive interventions when unsafe conditions and actions are found.
To increase and strengthen these efforts, SIG encourages transformation towards Visible-Felt Safety Leadership (VFSL), where leadership in safety is not only visible, but also felt by workers. This aims to build trust, strengthen collaboration, and foster a sense of shared responsibility for safety.
Reni Wulandari added, in the series of events to commemorate National K3 Month 2026, SIG also launched New CLSR as a guide for safe work for all employees. New CLSR containing 20 points of work safety guidelines is compiled based on statistical data of reported incidents (recordable incidents) and SIG operational business process risks.
"K3 culture starts from the awareness that safety is a shared responsibility that starts from each individual and is a common need. Safety Yes, Accident No! Safety is Our Top Priority," said Reni Wulandari.
