JAKARTA - The Confederation of Indonesian Workers' Unions (KSPN) responded to the plan to import around 105,000 units of 4x4 pickup commercial vehicles and trucks to support the operations of the Red and White Village Cooperative.

"Why, is it cheaper than the price of domestic vehicles? Thus, the basis for calculating there is an efficiency of Rp43 trillion is from where? In fact, if we look closely, the price of the 4x4 scorpio pickup truck from India ranges from Rp290 million to Rp400 million. Meanwhile, the domestic production carry pickup truck ranges from Rp170 million to Rp190 million, the grandmax pickup truck is not far from the carry pickup," he explained.
On this basis, the KSPN asked President Prabowo Subianto to order the President Director of PT. Agrinas to cancel the import of operational commercial vehicles of the Red and White Village Cooperative and order them to the domestic automotive industry which is in a sluggish condition.
"Another benefit is also to prevent layoffs while creating jobs. Thus, in the end, the economic benefits are the Indonesian people in general and Indonesian workers in particular, not foreign economic actors," he added.
