Pertagas Inaugurates the Completion of the Cilamaya Compressor Restaging Program

PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas), part of the Pertamina Gas Subholding (PGN), inaugurated the completion of the Compressor Restaging Project in Cilamaya District, West Java.

This project is a strategic step for the company in strengthening asset reliability and operational resilience, as well as ensuring that the national natural gas transmission infrastructure operates reliably in the long term, especially in the West Java region.

"This project not only increases operational capacity, but also strengthens the integrity of assets and the resilience of the natural gas transmission system. With a more reliable and resilient infrastructure, Pertagas can ensure the continuity of energy supply which is a vital need for the industrial sector, electricity, and the national economy," said Director of Uta Pertagas, Indra P. Sembiring, quoted Friday, February 20.

Indra added that this project is also a form of strategic synergy between Pertamina Gas as part of the Gas Subholding (SHG) and Pertamina EP as part of the Upstream Subholding (SHU), to ensure the readiness of midstream infrastructure in supporting national energy needs sustainably.

"Through this project, Pertagas ensures that the gas transmission infrastructure is ready to operate reliably and flexibly to support national energy needs, both now and in the future," he said.

From the aspect of safety, all stages of the project are carried out with strict HSSE standards, from planning to commissioning. This is part of Pertagas' commitment to maintaining worker safety, asset reliability, and operational sustainability.

"The implementation of strict Health, Safety, Security, and Environment standards is our top priority in every phase of the project," continued Indra.

Construction work on the project began at the end of August 2025 and was successfully completed in less than six months, with the commissioning phase safely and controlled in January 2026. This success reflects the effectiveness of technical planning, operational discipline, and comprehensive risk control in the management of strategic energy infrastructure assets.

With the completion of this project, the Cilamaya Compressor facility is now able to support the operation of the natural gas pipeline network and distribution capacity according to upstream needs, thereby increasing operational flexibility, strengthening the stability of the system pressure, and ensuring the optimization of gas distribution to customers on an ongoing basis.

"Since the beginning of the year, the Cilamaya Compressor Restaging Project has been carried out to ensure that the natural gas transmission infrastructure remains safe, reliable, and ready to face operational dynamics.

The improved performance of the compressor helps maintain pressure and gas flow stability, reduces the risk of disruptions, and ensures that the energy supply is maintained for national strategic customers.

This step also strengthens the resilience of the natural gas distribution system and supports sustainable national energy resilience.
