JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) through the North Sumatra Development Parent Unit (UIP) has successfully operated the 150-kilovolt (kV) High Voltage Air Channel (SUTT) Blangpidie-Tapak Tuan and the 150 kV Blangpidie Extension Substation (GI) to the 150 kV Tapak Tuan Substation with a capacity of 30 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA).

"The operation of this infrastructure is part of PLN's commitment to strengthening the backbone of the West Aceh electricity system, especially South Aceh Regency, while reducing dependence on diesel-powered power plants (PLTD)," said PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo, Thursday, February 19.

Darmawan also ensured that PLN continued to accelerate the development of electricity infrastructure evenly and sustainably throughout Indonesia.

"PLN is committed to providing a reliable and efficient electricity system as the foundation for national economic growth," he continued.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of PLN UIP North Sumatra, Dewanto, detailed the 150 kV SUTT Blangpidie-Tapak Tuan was built along a 115 kilometer circuit (kms) with 166 transmission towers.

This infrastructure serves as a regional interconnection to maintain voltage quality, increase the continuity of electricity supply, and connect the electricity system from Blangpidie (South West Aceh) to Samadua (South Aceh).

"The operation of this infrastructure increases the reliability of the system and has the potential to save an average of 638.6 kiloliters of fuel oil per month from reducing the use of diesel generators. A 30 MVA capacity transformer is also prepared to support the growth in electricity needs for the household, business, and industrial sectors," explained Dewanto.

Furthermore, the operation of this infrastructure makes South Aceh no longer dependent on the medium voltage network and diesel plant. The operation of the Fajar City PLTD will also be stopped as SUTT Blangpidie - Tuan Site starts operating.

"Voltage stability is better maintained, load maneuvering during disturbances is more flexible, and the potential for blackout can be significantly suppressed," he continued.

Dewanto also explained that the success of energizing this facility could not be separated from the support of the local government. All stages are also ensured to be in accordance with technical standards as well as the implementation of occupational safety and health (K3).

"PLN ensures that every electricity infrastructure is built reliably, safely, and sustainably to support economic growth and community welfare," concluded Dewanto.
