JAKARTA - The Chairman of the Post-disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force for Sumatra and Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian ensured that the distribution of housing waiting funds for the victims of the Sumatra disaster had been carried out.
Tito explained that the social assistance was given specifically targeting survivors who lost their homes or for those whose houses were in the category of severe damage.
The realization of the distribution of assistance at the regional level has currently reached an average of 96.6 percent. In detail, 94 percent in Aceh Province, 99 percent in North Sumatra (Sumut) and 97 percent in West Sumatra (Sumbar).
"The distribution of funds for waiting for housing in Aceh is 94 percent, in North Sumatra 99 percent and West Sumatra 97 percent, this is specifically for houses that are severely damaged or lost. They can choose contracts, rent or live in their family's house," said Tito in a Coordination Meeting (Rakor) of the DPR with the Sumatra Post-disaster Recovery Task Force at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 18.
Tito detailed that the amount of housing waiting fund assistance disbursed was IDR 600,000 per month for a period of three months, so that each head of household (KK) received a total of IDR 1.8 million.
The funds were given as compensation so that the burden of temporary housing costs for residents whose houses were destroyed or lost could be accommodated by the state, which was disbursed simultaneously in 25 districts and cities last week.
Meanwhile, in its implementation, the Acceleration Task Force for Rehabilitation and Reconstruction coordinates with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) which holds technical data and detailed figures of beneficiaries in the field to ensure the accuracy of distribution.
"We were given Rp600,000 housing waiting funds multiplied by three to Rp1.8 million. Last Sunday we carried it out simultaneously in 25 regencies/cities," he said.
Previously, Tito reported that only 1,254 permanent dwellings (huntap) had been built for victims of the Sumatra disaster.
In fact, there are plans to build up to 16,329 units for the three affected provinces, namely Aceh, North Sumatra (Sumut) and West Sumatra (Sumbar).
In detail, the plan to build huntap in Aceh is 9,246 units, North Sumatra 3,462 and West Sumatra reaches 3,621 units.
