JAKARTA - The Association of Working Textile Entrepreneurs (IPKB) complained that trade regulations on e-commerce platforms were considered unfair. The reason is that many imported goods can be easily marketed at low prices.

Chairman of the IPKB Nandi Herdiaman said that the massive import products sold at low prices on e-commerce made it difficult for IKM to compete.

"Online platforms as a place of sale should have clear regulations to ensure fair prices and not be jomplang," Nandi said in a written statement received by VOI, Wednesday, February 11.

Currently, regulations related to the trade of imported textiles and textile products (TPT) have been regulated by the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) and the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin). However, Nandi assessed that there are still many imported products sold on e-commerce at unreasonable prices that make IKM unable to compete and eventually suffer losses.

Not only that, according to Nandi, traditional markets also need to be considered, because many offline markets are closed and deserted by visitors due to the shift of consumers to online.

"We hope that the government will oversee e-commerce and ensure that online platforms have clear regulations to protect MSMEs. We also hope that the government can provide support to MSMEs to improve their capabilities and competitiveness," he said.

The online platform has become 85 percent of the sales market, so it is very important for the government to supervise and ensure that all parties can compete fairly.

He also encouraged the government to make regulations more stringent for e-commerce, especially in terms of selling imported products. Then, make sure all products sold on e-commerce meet quality standards and fair prices.

On the other hand, supervision of e-commerce is also said to have to be increased to ensure that all products sold have met existing regulations. This includes supervision of imported products sold at low prices.

In this case, the IKM also needs greater support for IKM, especially in terms of improving capacity and competitiveness, including training, funding and access to markets.

"The government needs to ensure that consumers are protected from products that are not of good quality and prices that are not fair," he added.
