The number of KUpang MSMEs reaches 17,747 units in 2025

Kupang - The Kupang City Government (Pemkot) recorded the number of micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) in the capital of the East Nusa Tenggara Province as reaching 17,747 units in 2025.

"In 2025, the MSME sector recorded around 17,747 business units with 22,015 workers," said Head of the Kupang City Cooperative, Small and Medium Enterprises Office, Eben Ndapamerang, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, January 31.

Of the total 17,747 business units in 2025, around 97-98 percent are micro-enterprises.

Meanwhile, in 2024, the number of Kupang City MSMEs was recorded as 17,609 units.

Eben said that by 2025, the Kupang City Government would synergize in assisting MSMEs to help manage business permits, including the issuance of the Business Registration Number (NIB).

To support this, his party also provides functional personnel who are tasked with serving NIB management for MSMEs. .

"It is important to educate the public about licensing and certification management. NIB is a key requirement for obtaining government assistance and access to capital to banks, such as through KUR. Of course, it also prepares NPWP," he said.

In addition to licensing assistance, the Kupang City Government also supports the development of MSMEs through training programs, such as food processing techniques and handicraft techniques.

He also reminded MSMEs to always maintain product quality and service so that they have competitive value with large franchise businesses that are growing.

According to him, small kiosks or local MSMEs can learn from the management of stocks, procurement of goods, and even customer service.

"If the product or service is not good, customers will quickly move," he said.

The Kupang City Government ensures that the 2026 cultural and UMKM festivals of the sub-district will continue to be carried out and are expected to grow, especially for UMKM actors who have not yet been involved so that they can also display their products.

"This event can become a regular activity, both at the level of the village and the sub-district, with a larger volume, of course, more people will visit and shop," he said.
