JAKARTA - Perum Bulog started a strategic step to secure national food stocks in 2026 by starting to absorb farmers' rice from West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province.
Through the Prime Harvest and the launch of the Farmer Rice Absorption program, this activity is an initial step in strengthening rice absorption to support the national target of 4 million tons of rice equivalent by 2026.
NTB is known as one of the national rice production centers with great agricultural potential. In the 2026 planting season, the area of rice harvest in this area is estimated to reach hundreds of thousands of hectares, with an estimated production of millions of tons of harvested dry rice (GKP).
This potential is the foundation for Bulog to optimize the absorption of farmers' rice in a planned, measurable, and sustainable manner.
The President Director of Perum Bulog, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, who was present directly at the event, emphasized that Bulog not only carried out the function of absorbing grain, but also ensured the stability of the supply and price of national food.
"As a food SOE, Bulog is present to ensure that farmers' harvests are absorbed optimally. NTB has a strategic role in the national food map, and Bulog is ready to fully support it through massive grain absorption, strengthening of warehousing infrastructure, and integrated distribution," said Rizal in an official statement, Friday, January 30.
"BULOG, continued Rizal, continues to strengthen coordination with local governments, TNI/Polri, and all stakeholders to ensure that the process of absorbing rice runs smoothly, is targeted, and provides certainty for farmers.
Meanwhile, the NTB Governor, represented by the Head of the NTB Provincial Agriculture Service, Eva Dewiyanti, emphasized that food security is the main pillar of regional development, both to ensure food availability and to reduce extreme poverty.
"West Nusa Tenggara has great potential in increasing food security. Our focus is to ensure that farmers' agricultural results are absorbed well so that they have a direct impact on community welfare and support the realization of national food self-sufficiency," said Eva.
He also highlighted the importance of cross-sectoral collaboration, ranging from the central government, provincial governments, to districts/cities, with the full support of BULOG as a strategic regional partner.
For information, the Prime Harvest and Rice Intake Launching activities were also attended by elements of Forkopimda and related stakeholders, including the Deputy Chief of the NTB Police Hari Nugroho, representative of Danrem 162/Wira Bakti Colonel Agung, Deputy Regent of North Lombok Kusmalahadi Syamsuri, Dandim Mataram Colonel Infantry Nyarman, Police Chief of North Lombok Agus Purwanta, and Deputy Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for NTB Province Andhi Wahyu Riyadno.
Through synergy between Bulog, local governments, and all stakeholders, NTB is expected to continue to strengthen its contribution in maintaining national food security, improving the welfare of farmers, and supporting the achievement of sustainable food self-sufficiency targets.
