JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo asked that the Anai Valley road in Tanah Datar, West Sumatra, be functional for 24 hours during the Eid holiday. The route is the main road from Padang City to Bukittinggi City.
"I ask this functional unit on H-7 Lebaran to operate 24 hours," said Dody, quoted from a written statement, Thursday, January 29.
The Anai Valley route is currently being repaired after a landslide. Currently, the Anai Valley route is still open to drivers. "Unlike now, which only operates from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m.," he said.
Dody emphasized that during the Lebaran holiday, all heavy equipment in the lane must leave the location.
"Later, on H-7 Lebaran, all heavy equipment must be out so that it can function 24 hours," said Dody.
According to Dody, the improvement of the Lembah Anai line is targeted to be completed in July 2026. He hopes that after that the Lembah Anai line can be used permanently.
"Our permanent target (handling) is July 2026. After that, we will start preparing a toll road plan through a tunnel that penetrates the hills in this area," he explained.
Previously, Minister PU Dody Hanggodo together with Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives Andre Rosiade and West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi reviewed the handling of the Lembah Anai section in West Sumatra, Wednesday, January 28.
The review was carried out to ensure that community connectivity is maintained while improving infrastructure resilience in disaster-prone areas.
The Anai Valley Line has been functional since December 16, 2025. Currently, the section is operated in a limited manner with certain time arrangements, in line with the ongoing work on handling and securing slopes along the road route.
Currently, the focus is on ensuring that the Anai Valley section can function optimally, especially ahead of the Lebaran homecoming rush.
