JAKARTA - PT Wijaya Karya (WIKA) has conveyed the progress of the construction of the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road (Probowangi) Package 3. As of the end of January 2026, the physical progress of the project has reached around 90 percent, with a construction achievement of 97.662 percent.

The presence of the toll is expected to be able to significantly reduce travel time compared to existing arterial routes.

The travel time from Probolinggo to Banyuwangi is estimated to be reduced by 30-50 percent, which ultimately reduces logistics costs by about 20 percent through fuel consumption efficiency and congestion reduction.

"This condition can increase the competitiveness of the national economy and the smooth distribution of goods and services on the coast of East Java," said WIKA management as quoted from an official statement, Wednesday, January 28.

As part of the Trans-Java Toll Road strategic network, the project plays an important role in opening access to the eastern part of East Java.

The toll connects Probolinggo to Situbondo/Besuki more directly and supports the equalization of economic development in the Tapal Kuda area to Banyuwangi.

WIKA management said that the achievement of progress was supported by the implementation of engineering innovation and solutions in construction work. WIKA optimizes the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) to ensure planning accuracy and design integration with field conditions.

"In addition, the use of drones and 3D mapping is used to support precision geotechnical surveys, especially in segments with hilly terrain characteristics and variations in soil conditions," he said.

In the implementation of the work, WIKA also implements various engineering solutions, including the use of modular formwork, modern soil compaction technology as well as integrated and parallel work methods.

As part of the construction digital transformation, WIKA implements digitization throughout the project phase through BIM integration, drone-based remote sensing, and digital project management systems.

"WIKA is optimistic that the Probowangi Toll Package 3 can be completed in March 2026 and operated functionally during the Lebaran homecoming season while making a real contribution to supporting Astacita and the development of sustainable infrastructure in Indonesia," he concluded.
