JAKARTA - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Persero) or Pelni is implementing a satellite-based Ship Communication System (SisKomKap) as part of a digital transformation across its passenger fleet.
The implementation of the system was marked by the implementation of the Kick Off Meeting for the Procurement of SisKomKap Services held on the KM Nggapulu, Tanjung Priok Port, Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
The modernization of this communication system is carried out through a strategic cooperation between Pelni and PT Dwi Tunggal Putra (DTP) for the next 36 months.
The Kick Off Meeting was attended by the Director of Finance and Risk Management of PELNI Anik Hidayati, the President Director of PT Dwi Tunggal Putra Sugeng Alfien, Vice President for Southeast and East Asia Eutelsat Bala Balamurali, Vice President of Information Technology Pelni Angga Krisosa, and the Captain of KM Nggapulu Capt. Roberto Matualage.
The SisKomKap service to be implemented includes the provision of high-bandwidth communication infrastructure, IP Phone (VoIP), Satellite Phone, as well as strengthening the cyber security system on each ship. In addition, this system is equipped with On Time Performance (OTP) analysis features and Automatic Identification System (AIS) receivers to monitor the condition around the ship in real time.
Pelni Finance and Risk Management Director Anik Hidayati said that digitalization is an important part of realizing the company's vision and mission that must be applied in all business processes, including daily ship operations.

According to Anik, the use of LEO satellite technology allows Pelni passenger ships to provide more reliable communication services, support real-time coordination between ship crews and land, and increase passenger comfort during navigation.

Currently, Pelni operates 25 passenger ships serving 483 travel routes and stopping at 75 ports.
In addition, Pelni also manages 30 pilot ship routes serving the 3TP area with a total of 516 sections, 2,515 routes, and stopping at 229 ports. For the logistics sector, Pelni operates 8 toll sea routes and one special cattle ship route, as well as 18 rede ships.
