JAKARTA - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) asks customers to be aware of various fraud methods, including phishing through fake websites that impersonate BCA, following reports from business customers submitted through social media regarding fund transfer transactions.
BCA's EVP Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility Hera F Haryn said that the company had communicated with customers and conducted further investigations.
"Based on the chronology provided by the customer and the results of the investigation we conducted, this incident is a phishing fraud modus through a fake website," Hera said in a statement in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Monday, January 26.
Furthermore, said Hera, the company has also conducted internal investigations and ensured that the BCA system is safe.
Therefore, BCA urges customers to always be careful of various fraud methods, including fake websites that are not BCA's official website.
Customers are asked not to share confidential banking data, including BCA Appli Token Key, PIN, OTP, and password.
Customers must also ensure that information is only from BCA's official channels, namely the haloBCA application, the official Halo BCA number 1500888 (without 021, +0621, or other additions), WhatsApp Bank BCA 08111500998 (there is a blue check mark), Instagram @goodlifebca (already blue check mark), and the website www.bca.co.id.
Previously, there were reports on social media about business customers losing funds of up to billions of rupiah.
The Instagram account @realmrbert discussed this case by explaining that the victim should access KlikBCA Bisnis through vpn.klikbca.com.
However, the victim was trapped on a fake website with an address that almost resembled the official website, starting with "vpk", and having a look similar to the official website.
When the victim enters the fake website, the funds do not go into the destination account but into the scammer's account.
Meanwhile, the Instagram account @tommy******** also reported a similar incident, namely the loss of funds of around IDR 500 million after accessing the fake KlikBCA Bisnis website through the Google search engine.
The funds were initially the salary he would pay to his employees, but instead went into the scammer's account.
