JAKARTA - PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk as one of the Toll Road Business Entities (BUJT) with the most toll road management in Indonesia has started to prepare to support the smooth distribution of traffic during the 2026 Lebaran period.
This step was carried out through an inspection of the readiness of functional lines in the Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) and Central Java (Jateng).
Jasa Marga President Director Rivan Achmad Purwantono said that the review was carried out to ensure the readiness of infrastructure, the fulfillment of safety aspects, and strengthen cross-sector coordination ahead of the operation of the functional lane.
"We are committed to supporting the smooth mobility of the community during the 2026 Lebaran period through the readiness of functional lanes, both in terms of physical road conditions, supporting facilities such as CCTV, radar and traffic counting, as well as traffic arrangements," said Rivan as quoted from a written statement, Saturday, January 24.
The existence of functional lanes is also expected to be able to disperse density, distribute vehicle traffic more evenly, and provide safer and more efficient travel alternatives for road users.
The functional line that is being prepared consists of two parts, namely the functional line of the Solo-Yogyakarta-NYIA Kulon Progo Toll Road segment Prambanan-Purwomartani along 11.48 kilometers (km).
Then, the functional lane of the Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll Road Section 6 Ambarawa-Bawen section along 4.98 km.
Through its subsidiary PT Jasamarga Jogja Solo, the readiness of the functional lane of the Solo-Yogyakarta-NYIA Kulon Progo Toll Road segment Prambanan-Purwomartani will increase connectivity and accessibility between Solo, Yogyakarta and the surrounding areas.
The existence of the functional lane is also claimed to be able to reduce the travel time from Klaten-Yogyakarta from around 45 minutes to around 20 minutes. In fact, the toll road is also claimed to facilitate access to strategic tourism areas such as Prambanan Temple.
Meanwhile, the functional route of the Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll Road Section 6 Ambarawa-Bawen section, which was prepared by PT Jasamarga Jogja Bawen, is directly connected to the Trans Java Toll Road network, Semarang-Solo section, so it is strategic in supporting the distribution of Lebaran homecoming and return flows.
Later, the Ambawara-Bawen functional route will be an alternative for road users from the Semarang-Solo Toll Road which exits through the Bawen Toll Gate (Gat) which leads to a number of destinations such as Magelang and Temanggung.
"This line is expected to be able to reduce the density that has often occurred at the Bawen Exit during the Lebaran period, due to the absence of intersections and traffic lights on the toll road," he said.
Meanwhile, the National Police Deputy Chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho hopes that the functional lane of the Solo-Yogyakarta-NYIA Kulon Progo section of Prambanan-Purwomartani Toll Road and the functional lane of the Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll Road section 6 of Ambarawa-Bawen can break the density of the homecoming and return flow of Lebaran 2026 in the Central Java and DIY regions.
"With the functional Yogyakarta-Bawen toll road, the revival of the flow from Jakarta and Semarang to Solo and Yogyakarta can be divided, so that the traffic engineering scenario becomes more appropriate, including the implementation of one way or contraflow if necessary," he said.
