JAKARTA - PT Nusantara Regas (NR) received the first supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN), as part of efforts to strengthen the national gas supply for strategic sectors.
Director of Operations & Commercial PT Nusantara Regas, Mahfud Fauzi explained, the LNG ship-to-ship transfer process took place on January 19-21, 2026, with commissioning and PGN gas handover activities carried out on January 20, 2026.
"Furthermore, the gas resulting from regasification is flowed through the gas-in process at the Onshore Receiving Facility (ORF) Muara Karang before being distributed to the gas pipeline network," he said, Selasam January 20.
He added that the supply of LNG is planned for three cargoes throughout 2026 and sourced from the Tangguh Papua LNG Plant. Through PGN's infrastructure, gas distribution can be carried out with a maximum capacity of up to 100 MMSCFD, with a continuous operation capacity of 60 MMSCFD to ensure supply reliability.
As a national LNG terminal operator, PT Nusantara Regas has been serving and distributing gas from LNG regasification since 2012, especially to support the energy supply of the electricity sector.
"For more than a decade, Nusantara Regas has played a strategic role in ensuring reliable and sustainable availability of natural gas, in line with the growth in national energy demand and the transition to cleaner energy," he said.
Mahfud added, since its inception, Nusantara Regas has become an important part in maintaining the continuity of national LNG supply, especially for the electricity sector.
"The first acceptance of LNG from PGN is a strategic milestone to strengthen national energy resilience, in line with the increasing demand for electricity and industry energy," said Mahfud.
He added that the supply of LNG would be focused on supporting electricity generation activities and industries through the utilization of integrated gas infrastructure.
"PGN's LNG supply is allocated to meet the needs of the industrial, commercial, and household sectors so that economic activities can continue to run stably and sustainably. The gas resulting from the regasification is then distributed through the ORF Muara Karang system and PGN pipeline network to reach end users," he continued.
The LNG and gas operations of PGN are realized as a form of collaboration between all gas stakeholders including SKK Migas, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, LNG Suppliers, PGN, Pertamina, PLN, and NR as terminal managers.
