JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) together with PT Hutama Karya (Persero) or HK has extended the functional opening of the Sigli-Banda Aceh Toll Road (Sibanceh) Section 1 (Padang Tiji-Seulimeum).

This policy was taken to ensure the smooth distribution of humanitarian assistance, accelerate the mobility of emergency response vehicles, and provide alternative routes from Banda Aceh City to Pidie Regency and surrounding areas.

The opening of the functional Sibanceh Toll Road section of Padang Tiji-Seulimeum is extended until January 22, 2026.

Previously, the functional toll was only opened from 08.00-18.00 WIB, now the operation has been expanded to 24 hours every day.

Minister PU Dody Hanggodo emphasized that the government prioritized the security of logistics access so that the basic needs of the community and economic activities were not hampered by disasters.

"The most important thing for us is to keep the logistics routes open. Access to materials for community needs and industrial activities must not be interrupted. The community must not experience difficulties due to the obstruction of distribution," said Dody, quoted from a written statement, Saturday, January 10.

During the functional opening period, the Ministry of PU and PT Hutama Karya actively coordinate with related agencies to ensure that operations continue to prioritize safety aspects.

Considering that the toll road is still in the construction phase, the opening was limited by still ensuring the safety of road users through a series of preparations, including fulfilling safety completeness and operational readiness.

A number of safety equipment has been prepared during the functional opening, such as the installation of additional signs, the placement of standby officers, and the strengthening of patrols along the toll road.

Road users are urged to pay attention to technical conditions at several points, especially at locations with slow lane narrowing due to potential landslides and other vulnerable points.

All areas have been equipped with additional patrols and supervision by officers to maintain safety.

During this period, the toll road section is open in both directions and is intended for Group I vehicles and logistics vehicles carrying assistance and emergency needs for disaster-affected communities.

To maintain the smooth flow of traffic and ensure vehicles pass according to the provisions, a filtration system is applied at the Seulimeum B Line Interchange (IC) (Seulimeum-Padang Tiji direction) and at the Padang Tiji entrance.

In addition, road users are still required to tap the electronic money card at the toll gate (GT).

Then, road users are reminded to ensure that their physical condition is in good condition and not to drive in a sleepy state, ensure that vehicles are roadworthy, comply with the maximum speed limit of 60 km/hour, maintain a safe distance between vehicles, do not stop on the shoulder of the road except in emergency conditions and always follow signs and directions of officers in the field.
