JAKARTA - Bank Jakarta has officially expanded its service reach to the international market through the launch of a Visa Debit Card that allows transactions in more than 200 countries.

This step marks the strategic transformation of the bank owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in strengthening competitiveness in the financial services industry.

The Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Khoirudin, assessed that the presence of the Visa Debit Card was the answer to the needs of the people of Jakarta as a global city.

According to him, the expansion of this service shows Bank Jakarta's readiness to compete at the international level.

"Bank Jakarta is now stepping up. With the Visa Debit Card, customers can transact in more than 200 countries. This is in line with Jakarta's position as a global city and of course makes it easier for people," said Khoirudin in a written statement received by VOI, Wednesday, January 7.

He also highlighted the contactless technology feature that allows digital transactions without a physical card.

Customers can make payments simply by tapping through mobile devices, both for online and offline transactions.

"In the future, transactions will be easier and more efficient. Just tap on your phone, you don't need to carry a card anymore. This is a much-needed form of modern banking services," he added.

Deputy Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Basri Baco called this launch an important momentum for Bank Jakarta in expanding the scale of its business.

He assessed that the transformation from a national service to a global network was a significant leap.

"This is an achievement that should be appreciated. Bank Jakarta, which previously operated nationally, has now officially entered the international transaction ecosystem," said Basri.

In terms of supervision and development of BUMD, Chairman of Commission C of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Dimaz Raditya, hopes that this service innovation can strengthen the fundamentals of Bank Jakarta's business and open up greater corporate action opportunities.

"We hope that this ease of transaction will have a direct impact on performance and public confidence. In the future, Bank Jakarta is expected to be ready to take the next step, including plans for an initial public offering or IPO," he said.

Bank Jakarta President Director Agus H. Widodo stated that the launch of the Visa Debit Card is part of the company's long-term strategy in strengthening cross-border transaction capabilities, increasing financial inclusion, and expanding the retail and business customer segments.

Meanwhile, Visa Indonesia Country Manager Vira Widiyasari emphasized that this collaboration is expected to support Bank Jakarta's digital transformation while expanding public access to a safe and reliable global payment system.

The launch of the Visa Debit Card is an important milestone for Bank Jakarta in strengthening its position as a regional bank that is oriented towards growth, modernization of services, and integration into the global financial ecosystem.
