JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi officially closed the 2025 Christmas and New Year 2026 (Nataru) Transportation Center Post.

The closure of the post marked the end of a series of national monitoring of community mobility during the year-end holiday period.

Dudy said that in general, the implementation of the 2025/2026 Nataru transportation went well, smoothly, and under control since the post was opened on December 18, 2025.

"All the dynamics of people's movement in the field, such as safety aspects, vehicle traffic, to the timeliness of services, have been recorded and collected digitally for a thorough evaluation," said Dudy in an official statement, Monday, January 5.

He emphasized that data and records during the implementation of the Nataru transportation were not only a final report, but would be an important basis in preparing anticipatory steps to face the 2026 Lebaran Transportation, which is considered to have a higher level of complexity.

"Based on experience in previous years, Lebaran transportation presents higher complexity than Nataru transportation," he explained.

Dudy revealed a number of important notes that need to be a common concern in the future. One of them is the readiness of transportation facilities and infrastructure, especially train modes, buses, crossings, and sea transportation, both in terms of fleet numbers and technical conditions.

In addition, strengthening operational management and capacity management at transportation nodes such as terminals, stations, ports, and airports are also a major concern so that the surge in community movement can be managed more controlled.

Safety and supervision aspects remain a priority through technical inspections, operational control, and discipline for safety standards.

Dudy also highlighted the importance of optimizing the use of data and digital systems in supporting cross-sector decision-making. According to him, data integration will allow all stakeholders to respond to field dynamics more quickly, accurately, and coordinated.

He added that the implementation of Nataru 2025/2026 was a challenge in itself because it took place in the midst of various disaster events in a number of regions, such as Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

"This condition requires extra readiness, empathy, and more intensive cross-sectoral coordination. In situations like this, the presence of the state through real work and maximum service from all levels is very important and meaningful for the community," said Dudy.

Dudy also expressed his appreciation to all parties involved in the implementation of the 2025/2026 Nataru transportation, ranging from ministries and agencies, local governments, TNI/Polri, SOEs, transportation operators, associations, to field officers.

"This year, our workload is really layered. We carry out routine transportation service tasks, serve the Nataru transportation operation, and at the same time we are also directly involved in supporting disaster handling, from the beginning of the incident to the long recovery period," he said.

Dudy hopes that the evaluation and learning from the implementation of Nataru 2025/2026 can be an important resource in preparing for Lebaran 2026 transportation.

"Hopefully this year's Lebaran transportation can take place more safely, safely, and orderly," he said.
