JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) has successfully operated the second line of the 150-kilovolt (kV) Pangkalan Brandan-Langsa transmission network. The operation of this line complements the first line that has been active, and strengthens the Sumatra-Aceh interconnection system after flash floods and landslides.
With the functioning of the two transmission lines, the reliability of electricity supply to the Aceh region is increasing. This operation is part of a series of restoration of the electricity system, after the Sumatra interconnection was isolated due to a natural disaster.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said the operation of this strategic transmission line is an important step in the recovery and strengthening of post-disaster electricity infrastructure, especially in the Aceh region.
"The operation of the Pangkalan Brandan-Langsa line 2 is an important part of the steps to restore the electricity system and strengthen post-disaster transmission so that the electricity supply to the Aceh region is more reliable," said Darmawan in an official statement, Friday, January 2.
Darmawan said that the achievement was inseparable from the collaboration of various parties in the field. The synergy between PLN and local governments, TNI, Polri, and community participation is considered to be the key to accelerating the completion of work.
Meanwhile, the General Manager of the PLN Distribution and Load Regulation Center (UIP3B) Sumatra, Amiruddin, explained that the full operation of the Pangkalan Brandan-Langsa transmission made the Aceh-Sumatra interconnection system again layered.
"The full operation of the Pangkalan Brandan-Langsa transmission strengthens the interconnection of Aceh-Sumatra. With the system being layered again, the stability of power distribution can be better maintained, while anticipating potential future disruptions," explained Amiruddin.
Previously, PLN had also operated the second transmission line of Arun-Bireuen, completing the first line on the line. The operation of these strategic lines is an important part of the series of restoration of the Aceh electricity system after the disaster, especially on the transmission side as the main support.
Amiruddin added that the strengthening of the Aceh-Sumatra interconnection not only focuses on the recovery of post-disaster conditions, but also as a foundation to ensure that electricity supply can support the needs of the community, vital facilities, and economic activities in a sustainable manner.
Meanwhile, Deputy Governor of Aceh Fadhlullah appreciated PLN's steps in restoring and strengthening the electricity system in his area. He assessed that electricity reliability was a crucial element in the post-disaster recovery process.
"This electrical reliability is needed to support people's daily activities, public services, and to encourage the economic recovery of Aceh," said Fadhlullah.
