JAKARTA - PT PLN Nusantara Power (PLN NP) through its Gas Engine Power Plant (PLTMG) Arun unit successfully played a key role in restoring electricity supply in Aceh after the flood and landslide disasters.
PLN Nusantara Power President Director Ruly Firmansyah said that the Arun PLTMG and the Nagan Raya Steam Power Plant (PLTU) which ensure the supply of electricity to all GI in Aceh can be optimally distributed.
Until Sunday, December 21, Ruly said that UP Arun can supply 173 MegaWatt (MW), and is fully functional to support the electricity needs of the community, households, public services, and other social sectors.
"The reopening of the Arun PLTMG and Nagan Raya PLTU is very important in this recovery phase. After the disaster, we are focusing on ensuring that electricity supply to the people of Aceh is stable again, especially for vital sectors," said Ruly.
Meanwhile, the Nagan Raya PLTU, which is located in Suak Puntong Village, Kuala Pesisir District, Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh. This plant is one of the backbone of electricity supply in Aceh with a capacity of around 2 x 110 MW (two units) to maintain the reliability of the Aceh region's electricity system.
Ruly also emphasized that although the challenges faced were quite large, especially in the recovery of plant infrastructure, his party was committed to continuing to maintain the reliability of the electricity system in Aceh.
"We are not only restoring the electricity system, but also restoring the lives of affected people. We will continue to ensure that the electricity supply is maintained and stable, by continuing to strive to optimize the capacity of the Arun PLTMG and Nagan Raya PLTU," added Ruly.
Furthermore, Ruly said that the Arun PLTMG will continue to operate by monitoring the conditions and energy supply needs in Aceh, as well as accelerating post-disaster recovery.
PLN NP also continues to ensure that every operational step is carried out safely and under control, to avoid further disruption to the electricity system that is much needed by the community.
"One of our units that was affected was the Diesel Power Plant of Cot Trueng, which is about 18 kilometers from UP Arun. Until now we have been cleaning and trying to recover so that electricity can be produced," said Ruly.
