JAKARTA - Energy and Mineral Resources Minister (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia ensures that the stock of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) for the first semester of 2025 is in a safe condition. This applies to domestic and export fulfillment.
"In 2026 it is clear. Both for domestic and export needs, it is safe," Bahlil told the media, Friday, December 19.
Meanwhile, for the second semester supply, Bahlil said his party was still counting and designing a mechanism to meet domestic and export needs.
This is necessary so that the domestic supply is sufficient considering that this year Indonesia has a deficit of 50 cargoes. Bahlil said that the cause of the LNG cargo deficit was because domestic demand exceeded the government's planning. Meanwhile, many Work Areas (WK) have entered into export contracts.
For this reason, Bahlil assessed that it was necessary to make arrangements so that the government did not have to import LNG to meet domestic needs.
"Learn from 2025, for 2026 we have exercised, without reducing our respect for offtaker friends whose market is clear and we have talked about, for the first 6 months it is clear, July onwards we will design it," said Bahlil.
On the other hand, the Special Working Unit for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) projects that the export of liquefied natural gas or liquefied natural gas (LNG) in 2025 will only reach 150 cargoes.
Deputy for Finance and Commercialization of SKK Migas, Kurnia Chairi, said that for domestic use, it was estimated at 86 cargoes.
"The data I received was approximately 150 cargo exports and 86 domestic cargo. That's about it," he told the media in Jakarta, Monday, July 21.
Kurnia said that this projection is likely to continue to increase in the second half of 2025 given that this number is only an initial estimate.
"Later we will rearrange it in this second semester to see whether the 150-plus projection is still possible, whether some of them will be diverted to domestic or diverted from the schedule. It's a bit dynamic," he explained.
