JAKARTA - The budget needs for the revitalization of post-flood infrastructure in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra are certain to continue to increase.

Meanwhile, based on the provisional calculation of the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure, the total needs for disaster infrastructure repair in Sumatra reached Rp51 trillion.

However, the Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo said that the budget needs could be more than the calculation because a number of regions have not been recorded regarding the damage to their infrastructure.

"It must change (budget needs) because earlier, once we entered (the area that has not been recorded), we will definitely be more (counting), know how many schools are damaged, how many sub-district offices, village offices, pesantren, mosques, churches that we have to repair," said Dody in a media briefing on the Preparedness of Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 Infrastructure in the PU Ministry Auditorium, Jakarta, Thursday, December 18.

Dody explained that so far the government has revitalized roads, bridges, rivers, irrigation, and dams in the three disaster-affected provinces. Aceh is the most affected area by flash floods.

"Per detik ini saya mengatakan yaitu angkanya (Rp51 triliun) dan kalaupun kami diminta pertanggungjawaban atas angka tersebut, insyaallah ada," katanya.

Based on data from the Ministry of PU, in Aceh there are 419 flood-affected points and 58 landslide-affected points. This condition caused the embankment to break, the road to break, the bridge to break until the road was flooded.

Meanwhile, in North Sumatra, there are 180 points affected by flooding and 126 points affected by landslides. In West Sumatra, the Ministry of PU recorded 427 points affected by flooding and 203 points affected by landslides.

Currently, the Ministry of PU has also sent 402 volunteers from the Ministry of PU. The details are 234 volunteers to Aceh, 101 volunteers to North Sumatra and 67 volunteers to West Sumatra.

"PU is, right, an average engineer. Actually we already have about 300 PU personnel in three provinces. It's just because of the massive damage to the sub-districts, so we feel that we have less personnel," he said.
