JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) stated its readiness in maintaining the reliability of electricity supply and supporting the need for community mobilization through the strengthening of electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
PLN's Retail and Commercial Director, Adi Priyanto, said that the trend of using electric vehicles continues to increase, and the users of electric vehicles in this Nataru period are predicted to reach around 26,000 units, or more than double compared to last year which was recorded as 12,183 units.
To anticipate this surge, PLN has increased the number of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) on the Trans Sumatra-Java homecoming route by three times from Nataru the previous year in order to support community mobility.
"We have tripled the number of SPKLU machines along the Trans Sumatra-Java homecoming route. Last year the number was around 500, now it has become 1,515 which are spread across 865 points," said Adi, Thursday, December 18.
Adi explained that nationally, PLN together with its partners has also provided a total of 4,514 SPKLU units spread across 2,862 strategic points throughout Indonesia.
In addition, PLN has prepared 117 SPKLU Standby Posts which are spread in strategic points such as rest areas, SPKLU Centers, as well as UP3 and ULP PLN offices. At these standby posts, motorists using electric vehicles can rest comfortably while charging their vehicles.
To support traveler comfort, PLN provides the PLN Mobile application which can be used to report power outages as well as help plan trips for electric vehicle users.
"For travelers who plan a trip, for example from Jakarta to Surabaya, just click the destination in the application. Later, SPKLU points and travel distances will be displayed," concluded Adi.
