JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Yuliot held a bilateral meeting with Deputy Minister of Upstream Affairs, Ministry of Oil of the Republic of Iraq, Basim Mohammed Kudhair, on Tuesday, December 16 in Jakarta.

The meeting discussed the potential for strengthening strategic cooperation in the oil and gas sector between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of the Republic of Iraq, which is aimed at involving PT Pertamina International EP (PIEP) as an operational implementer in the upstream oil and gas sector, especially in supporting the development of oil and gas fields in Iraq as well as strengthening efforts to achieve Asta Cita and national energy self-sufficiency.

"The Indonesian government is committed to encouraging mutually beneficial and sustainable oil and gas cooperation, not only to strengthen national energy resilience, but also to provide added value for both countries through capacity building and knowledge transfer," Yuliot said in a statement to the media, Tuesday, December 16.

The scope of cooperation discussed includes facilitation of oil and gas trade and investment, improvement of technology transfer and exchange of expertise, implementation of joint research and human resource capacity building activities.
