JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa assessed that the service and supervision at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) had begun to show significant improvement in recent weeks.

Apparently, the Customs people are smart, they just have to be searched, searched, two weeks out," he said when inaugurating a container scanner at Terminal 3 and Terminal Mustika Alam Lestari, Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta, Friday, December 12.

"Service to the public and the business world must be faster, simpler, and more integrated. That is the commitment of the Customs and the Ministry of Finance because there are also threats. If you can't get it right, beware," he said.
Purbaya added that the government did not want to repeat the past experience when the weakness of customs supervision lowered public confidence. Therefore, he asked the Customs to take advantage of this momentum to carry out a thorough improvement.
"I hope that in March next year, the picture of Customs will be very different from what it was yesterday," he concluded.
