JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has given a signal that there will be an increase in online motorcycle taxi or motorcycle taxi rates.

According to Utomo, tariffs that have not changed since five years ago have caused unrest among ojol drivers or drivers. As well as driver associations.

"So that's what always worries the drivers' demands or associations," he explained.

Therefore, continued Utomo, the Ministry of Transportation is currently drafting a new tariff scheme by considering two factors. One of them is the price of fuel oil (BBM).

"We agree and in our regulation we have prepared tariff preparation based on the increase in fuel prices and the increase in fuel prices, we agree," he said.

On the other hand, Utomo asked the applicator company to review the pattern of transportation which has been mostly filled by two-wheeled vehicles.

He said the request departed from concerns about safety risks, traffic congestion, to the accumulation of motorists and passengers at one particular point.

For example, continued Utomo, when the application brought together 100 to 300 passengers in one location such as Dukuh Atas Station, traffic became uncomfortable.

Utomo also suggested that the system that regulates the spread of pick-up points. The goal is not to trigger a buildup that causes traffic jams.

"Can the algorithm not lead passengers to walk 20-30 meters to a looser point? We want the safety and comfort of transportation to be a concern," he said.
